1. Scope

This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") governs your use of the Contentstack suite of applications ("Services"), including Contentstack Canoe. It is part of, and incorporated into, the Contentstack Canoe Terms of Service (canoe.contentstack.com/legal/terms). Capitalized terms have the meanings given there. Violating this AUP may result in suspension or termination of access.

You are responsible for your own conduct and for the conduct of all members of your organization, and for all content you submit, generate, or publish through the Services ("Your Content," including AI-generated Output).

2. Prohibited content

You may not use the Services to create, upload, store, generate, or publish content that:

  • Is unlawful, infringing, or misappropriates intellectual property, trade secrets, or privacy/publicity rights.
  • Sexually exploits or endangers minors, or contains child sexual abuse material (zero tolerance; we will report as required by law).
  • Is harassing, threatening, defamatory, or promotes violence, self-harm, or illegal activity.
  • Promotes hatred or discrimination against people based on protected characteristics.
  • Is fraudulent, deceptive, or designed to mislead, including disinformation, fake reviews, impersonation of real people or organizations, or content falsely presented as human-authored where disclosure is legally required.
  • Contains malware, exploits, or code intended to disrupt or gain unauthorized access to systems.
  • Discloses others' personal or confidential data without authorization.
  • Violates applicable advertising, consumer-protection, election, or financial-promotion laws.

3. Prohibited conduct

You may not:

  • Circumvent, disable, or interfere with security, authentication, rate limits, usage metering, or plan limits, or attempt to exceed allotted credits, requests, or resource quotas by illegitimate means.
  • Access another organization's or user's data without authorization, or attempt to breach tenant isolation.
  • Reverse-engineer, scrape, or copy the Services, or use them to build a competing product or to train competing AI models.
  • Resell, sublicense, or provide the Services to third parties except as expressly permitted.
  • Use automated means to overload, probe, or disrupt the Services (denial-of-service, excessive crawling, etc.).
  • Submit content you do not have the rights to use.

4. Responsible use of AI features

  • Review before relying or publishing. AI Output may be inaccurate, biased, or incomplete. You must review and verify Output before relying on it or publishing it, especially in regulated, high-stakes, or consequential contexts.
  • No prohibited generation. Do not prompt the Services to generate content that violates Section 2, attempt to bypass safety filters, or use AI features to produce malware, weapons instructions, or content facilitating serious harm.
  • Disclosure. Where law or platform rules require disclosure of AI-generated or AI-assisted content, you are responsible for making that disclosure.
  • Visibility scores. Contentstack Canoe visibility, sentiment, and ranking scores are automated estimates, not guarantees (see Section 2.6 of the Terms of Service). Do not present them as definitive certifications.
  • Generative search testing (Contentstack Canoe). Only test brands, sites, and properties you are authorized to analyze. Do not use generative search testing to manipulate, deceive, or abuse third-party AI answer engines.

5. Data, privacy, and consent

You are responsible for having all rights and consents needed for the content you submit, including any personal data within it. Do not upload special-category or sensitive personal data unless lawful and necessary. Handle others' personal data in accordance with applicable privacy laws and, where it applies, the Contentstack Data Processing Addendum (canoe.contentstack.com/legal/privacy).

6. Usage limits and fair use

6.1 Plan limits. Each Plan includes limits, such as prompts per month, available AI answer engines, report history, projects, seats, and API or MCP requests, as shown on the pricing page and in-product. Usage is metered against the limits of your Plan and billing period.

6.2 Fair use. Use of the Services, including within your Plan limits, must be consistent with normal use by a single organization for its own brands and properties, and must not impose an unreasonable or disproportionate load on the Services or on third-party AI answer engines.

6.3 Prohibited practices. You may not: (a) create multiple accounts or organizations to obtain additional Free Plan or promotional allowances; (b) share login credentials across people or organizations to evade seat or usage limits; (c) script, automate, or schedule runs outside the product or beyond the API and MCP allowances of your Plan; (d) resell, redistribute, or white-label reports or Results to third parties unless your Plan permits it; or (e) artificially inflate usage or interfere with metering.

6.4 Enforcement. If we believe usage breaches this Section 6, we may queue, throttle, or pause runs, limit features, require an upgrade to an appropriate Plan, or suspend the account. Except for abuse, security threats, or activity that harms the Services or third-party providers, we will notify you first and give you a reasonable opportunity to adjust your usage.

6.5 Changes to limits. We may change Plan limits and entitlements in accordance with Section 3.4 of the Terms of Service, including the notice described there.

7. Reporting and enforcement

To report a violation of this AUP, contact legal@contentstack.com. We may investigate suspected violations and may remove content, throttle, suspend, or terminate access, with or without notice, depending on severity. We may also preserve and disclose information where required by law or to protect the Services and their users. We will use reasonable judgment and, where practical and lawful, provide notice and an opportunity to cure.

8. Changes

We may update this AUP from time to time. We will give at least thirty (30) days' notice of material changes by email or in-product notice, except where a shorter period is required by law or to address security or abuse, and reflect them in the "Last updated" date. Continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
